Journal structure
Field Reference
Use this as your standard structure so every trade is comparable in weekly reviews.
| Field | How to fill it |
|---|---|
| Date/Time | Record when the trade was opened to evaluate timing and session quality. |
| Market/Pair | Write the exact instrument (for example BTC/USDT or AAPL). |
| Direction (Long/Short) | Mark whether your thesis was bullish or bearish. |
| Setup | Name the exact setup from your playbook (breakout, pullback, mean reversion, and so on). |
| Timeframe | Add the execution timeframe used for entry. |
| Entry | Log your planned or executed entry price. |
| Stop | Record the invalidation level where the trade idea is wrong. |
| Target | Define the planned take-profit level or objective. |
| Position size | Save the exact size in units, contracts, or lots. |
| Fees estimate | Add expected costs so your performance is not overstated. |
| Notes before entry | Capture your thesis in one or two clear lines. |
| Exit price | Record the final executed exit price. |
| Result ($) | Track net profit/loss in account currency. |
| Result (R) | Convert outcome into R so trades stay comparable across sizes. |
| Rule followed? (Y/N) | Mark whether you followed your plan fully. |
| Mistakes | Tag execution errors (FOMO entry, moved stop, oversizing, etc.). |
